Sarah’s Masters topic is “Multiple-Stakeholder Participatory Design of a Mobile Business Application for Micro-Entrepreneurs from Low-Income South African Communities”. Her research builds on a platform called MyShop, developed by Nokia in Kenya and tested in various Central African countries. The research aims to address how its functionality and user-interface can be modified and extended to better meet the needs of a group of micro-entrepreneurs from Cape Town, South Africa. In addition, the impact of including different stakeholders in the design process on the outcome of the final application will be evaluated.
