Pacome L. Ambassa  is currently a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cape Town. He works under the supervision of Dr. Anne V.D.M Kayem and  Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel.  His research is in the general area of information security and cryptography. He is particularly interested in privacy for smart micro-grids in resource constrained environments. Pacome comes from Yaoundé, the lovely capital of Cameroon. He obtained an MSc in Computer Engineering and a BSc in Computer Science in 2012 and 2009 respectively. Both degrees from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Ngaounde   

Research Project / Interests: 

My research is a part of the Secure Micro-Grid Architecture for Resilient Power Networks "SMARtPowerNet" project. Which seeks to enable the effective and efficient use of renewable energy in so-called micro-grids. It focuses on energy-impoverished communities such as remote communities and unelectrified villages in developing countries. We use efficient, low-cost information technology to build a secure and resilient microgrid   in computationnaly limited environment.  My particular interest is in the area of privacy and anonymity. As electricity consumption, patterns may disclose information about behaviors and lifestyles of people within their dwellings. For example, the approximate number of occupants in a household, when they are present, as well as when they are awake or asleep,  their schedule to take a shower, when the TV and/ or computer is on; the number of appliances in the household and the time of usage.
