Biography: 

I am currently a research engineer at the CSIR Meraka Institute in Networks and Media and a PhD student at the University of Cape Town’s Computer Science department, in ICT4D under the supervision of Dr David Johnson and co-supervised by Dr Melissa Densmore. I have a BSc Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand (2011) and pursued my MSc Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications) at the same institution. From January 2012 - October 2015 I was employed as an Electrical Engineer at Eskom in Telecontrol Technology.

Research Project / Interests: 

My research interests currently range from optimization algorithms and Markov Chain Monte Carlo techniques to physical layer issues related to networks in poorly connected areas and TVWS, with a focus on channel allocation algorithms and Dynamic Spectrum Access techniques in mesh networks.
